Alice Fogel is an American poet, writer, and professor, and the current poet laureate of the state of New Hampshire (2014-2018). She is author of four poetry collections, most recently, ''Interval: Poems based on Bach's "Goldberg Variations" (2015),which won the Nicholas Schaffner Award for Music in Literature. ''Be That Empty'' (Harbor Mountain Press, 2007) was a poetry bestseller. She is also author of ''Strange Terrain: A Poetry Handbook for the Reluctant Reader'' (Hobblebush Books, 2009), guide to appreciating poetry without necessarily "getting" it. Her work has been published in literary journals and magazines including ''Barrow Street, Beloit Poetry Journal, Boston Review, Green Mountains Review, Iowa Review, Pleiades, Ploughshares, Poetry Daily, '' ''The Inflectionist'', and ''Spillway,'' and in newspapers including ''The Boston Globe, Christian Science Monitor,'' and ''The Washington Post'', as well as in anthologies including ''The Best American Poetry 1993'',〔(''Beloit Poetry Journal'' > Spring 1995 > Vol. 45, No. 3 > Table of Contents )〕〔(''Ploughshares'' > Authors > Alice B.
